Snooker Bridge

Snooker LessonsThere are many factors that are essential if you are to become a skilled and talented snooker player. Some of these factors include having the correct stance and cue action.

Another important factor is that you need to form a steady snooker bridge. This is a very important step if you want to take a controlled shot. Any instability in your bridge will make your shot go wrong.

There are a few different types of bridges each of which serves its own purpose. However, the main function of the bridge is to lock your cue stick into position to minimize unnecessary sideways movement. Two of these bridges include a closed bridge and an open bridge.

The closed snooker bridge is believed to reduce your cue from wobbling.  However if you use the correct snooker stance it does not really allow for you to use the closed bridge. Instead the act of carrying out the correct stance means that your cue stick will not wobble because it will be so close to your chest. The closed bridge can be good to use when trying to do a drawback shot.

Professional Snooker TrainingThe open bridge is one of the main snooker bridges used by players. The reason for this is because the open snooker bridge allows you to see the aiming line a lot better if you use the correct stance along with it.

The open bridge is formed with the player’s non cueing hand. The base of the bridge is created when the fingers are spread out on the snooker table. Then you simply lift your wrist up while keeping your fingers firmly on the table.

Your thumb also needs to be brought up to the top of your knuckle on your index finger so that it makes a ‘v’ shape where the cue will rest.

Pressing your fingers especially you index finger firmly on the table will give your snooker bridge the stability it needs to ensure you take an accurate shot.

Basically forming a good solid snooker bridge is very important in helping you to take a good controlled shot. In order to learn the tips and tricks in taking the perfect shot you need to read up all you can about snooker and watch as many tutorial videos as you can. Doing this and then combining it with lots of regular practice will lead to you becoming a highly skilled and talented snooker player.
